In 2010, in order to deal with the drug and alcohol issues damaging the lives of many young people and their families, The Lodge opened an off-campus Substance Abuse Clinic in Canoga Park. The clinic was created to provide counseling services to at-risk youth in the community who are on probation and in foster care (even if not Pacific Lodge clients). Most of these young men and women, aged 14 to 25, have been clinically dual diagnosed with substance use and mental health disorders. Services include individual, peer group, and family sessions, regular assessment and evaluations provided by a psychiatrist and psychologist, as well as by a certified alcoholism addiction recovery specialist. Other services included urine testing, integrated behavior health services, case management, and relapse and prevention planning. Our young clients benefit greatly from our years of experience in using County, State and Federally approved evidenced based practices (EBPs) such as Seeking Safety, Matrix Model for Teens and Young Adults, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mapping-Enhanced Counseling, and Aggression Replacement Training.
Funding for these services are provided by The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Please see Helpful Links for more information.
