After operating a Group Home Aftercare Program on an L.A. County contract awarded in 2012, Pacific Lodge expanded Outpatient Treatment services in 2013, serving the SPA 2 area of the San Fernando Valley through our Canoga Park office, providing outpatient, integrative substance abuse and mental health services to the community.
Although still offering comprehensive substance abuse treatment for young people, The Lodge’s Outpatient Treatment program has expanded to provide services that include individual, group, and family counseling, case management, and referrals for ancillary services along with coordinated medical and mental health services. Also included are crisis intervention and anger management.
Counseling focuses on positive development, and has developed specialized services for young people who have had involvement with drug dependency and/or the juvenile justice system, and youth who are at risk of gang involvement or in gangs. Clinical areas of focus in addition to substance abuse treatment include dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety and psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders, child abuse and neglect, exposure to violence, family issues and conflicts, school failure, and gender-identity issues. Outpatient services are now eligible for community members aged 5 to 25 and our counselors see children, youth, and their families.
Family members participate throughout the course of the program, working towards creating a home environment that will support teens in their recovery. As everything our counselors do is field-based, they are able to meet clients wherever it suits them best—at home, at school, or even in the park. The Outpatient Program also makes it possible for clients to see our psychiatrist. Prescriptions can be filled through our nursing department and sent to a client’s local pharmacy, where they can be easily picked up.
