Our Christmas Dinner with Temple Aliyah was a blast! Many thanks to all the incredible volunteers who made the event so special for the youth we serve. Your hard work and commitment are very much appreciated!
We are so grateful to Allheart volunteers for bringing amazing gifts for PLYS residents. Our boys had a wonderful time interacting with the volunteers and participating in a friendly cookie decorating contest. And the big winners??? All the boys! Each resident got a gift certificate. Thank you Allheart for brightening our boys’ holidays!
Big thank you to Armando, Eldrick, LaNell, and Heide from the EduCare Foundation! On November 12th, the EduCare Foundation facilitated a very productive Professional Development workshop to the boys at Pacific Lodge Youth Services. Some of the topics discussed in the workshop included attitude, self-image, goals, power of choice, personal responsibility and its effects on our lives. The staff and the boys at Pacific Lodge thank the EduCare Foundation and their volunteers for their time and commitment to this enlightening workshop.
On November 12th, 2015, we celebrated Universal Studios Day of Giving. Volunteers from Universal Studios came by the Lodge and received a tour from our wonderful Director of Development Shaun Carris. After the tour, the boys had lunch with the volunteers to have enough energy for the fun day ahead! While some of the residents participated in the Touchstones and Shrinky Dinks craft activities facilitated by a volunteer from A Window Between Worlds, the rest of the boys played an amazing game of basketball with the Universal Studios volunteers. We thank Universal Studios employees for such a wonderful and fun day!
With a fundraising tradition that started over 50 years ago by the Fortunehunters, on November 7th, Pacific Lodge Youth Services hosted 4th Annual Autumn Lunch! This charity fundraiser was held in our very own Activity Center. The luncheon included an extraordinary entertainment program, silent auction items, raffle tickets, delicious food, poetry read by the boys, as well as musical performances by our youth, and the wonderful Catherine McClenahan with Bob Remstein on keyboard. We thank everybody who supported and attended the event. Special thanks to Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office, as well as our wonderful Event Committee for putting a lot of time and energy in ensuring the Luncheon runs smoothly.
On Saturday, October 24, 2015, Pacific Lodge held a successful Texas “Hold-Em” Poker Tournament & Las Vegas Night. Casino games, such as roulette, craps, and black jack were also available for the guests. The proceeds from this fun event went towards the valuable services Pacific Lodge provides to the youth and their families as well as community projects for Woodland Hills Rotary. We thank Rotary Club of Woodland Hills, our title sponsor Sotheby’s International Realty, as well as all of our wonderful sponsors and devoted volunteers for dedicating their time to make this event possible. Thanks to you, we are able to continue delivering the services to the youth at Pacific Lodge.
